The North Allegheny School District welcomed the return of about 8,500 students Aug. 21 — the first of 182 days of the 2025-26 school year.

The district has seven elementary, three middle and two high schools, the last of which are beginning five minutes later this year to help pull back early bus pickup times.

As the students and more than 1,200 staff members ease back into the classroom, the theme for the new year is “Committed to Excellence,” according to Superintendent Brendan Hyland.

Fall sports are under way with game schedules available at athletics.northallegheny.org.

The next school board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 10 at the district’s central administration office on Hillvue Lane. Expected to be on the agenda is a presentation of the annual survey data report, as well as an update about district renovations. For details, visit northallegheny.org.
