ATM kiosk approved for vacant lot along Route 8
An ATM kiosk was approved for construction along Route 8.
Hampton council approved the conditional use during a recent meeting for the vacant lot at 4640 Route 8, Manager Chris Lochner said.
The property sits at the Talley Cavey intersection, just north of the BP station near Alpine Pools.
Developers will install associated stormwater mitigation equipment and landscaping.
Tom Taylor of Hampton Technical Associates said the southern buffer was modified to include some evergreen shrubs on the portion closest to Route 8 to allow for more visibility of the ATM.
He said an underground stormwater detention tank will be installed, and perennials and ornamental grasses will be planted.
Taylor said the goal is to clean up the empty lot and make it useful.
Resident Al Werling spoke against the construction, saying the road already is too narrow and he worried about built-up traffic.
Stand-alone kiosks don’t usually draw multiple cars backed up at one time, Taylor said. He doesn’t expect to add to the traffic volume of Talley Cavey Road, he said.
Residents who live within 300 feet of the property have been notified.
Council approved the application without conditions, other than compliance with normal land use regulations, Lochner said.
