Allegheny County’s North Park Swimming Pool in McCandless, Boyce Park Wave Pool in Plum and Settlers Cabin Park Wave Pool in Robinson will open for the season June 4.
Daily hours of operation are 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., weather and conditions permitting. Admission varies by age and county residency.
The South Park Wave Pool is undergoing concrete and other maintenance work and will have a delayed opening, according to the Allegheny County Parks Department. Once a date for opening is set, it will be announced.
Also opening June 4 are the county’s Deer Lakes Spray Park and Round Hill Spray Park. They are free and open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather and conditions permitting.

Lifeguard positions are still available at county pools. Candidates must be at least 15 years old and have current lifeguard, first aid and CPR certifications, and also must pass an aquatics test. Prior to taking the test, all applicants must present a doctor’s certification form, employment application and permission to investigate form.
Candidates also must pass a background check and be willing to work the entire season, including flexible hours, weekends and holidays. Returning lifeguards in good standing and applicants ages 18 and older will be given first preference.
Starting pay for lifeguards is $16 an hour. Training and certification is available at no cost to the applicant.
