A Franklin Park church is offering a free career development program to teach some the fundamental behaviors practiced by successful people who have enjoyed longevity in their careers.

“Practice Makes Perfect: Achieving Career Success” will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Saints John and Paul Church.

“We all know someone who has had a highly successful career,” said Carolyn Mariano, who coordinates the church’s Career Connections program. “And while it can be easy to be envious of their ‘luck’ or how they always seem to get all the promotions and raises, the truth is that long-term career success is hard work.”

The program will be presented by Jeff Hoover, a recently-retired partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers who spent more than 30 years serving global clients. Hoover will discuss how he uses a vast professional network of contacts to link people to job opportunities.

Hoover will be joined by Allan Roberts, a veteran and entrepreneur who works as an executive for Allegheny General Hospital.

The program will cover topics including working collaboratively, building skills, forming lasting professional relationships, expanding and maintaining connections, learning how to network inside and outside a company and understanding the life cycle of an industry.

No registration is needed to attend.

The church is located at 2586 Wexford Bayne Road.
