The Bradford Woods Conservancy is hosting a virtual program on July 22 about the state’s geological history. Pictured here is one such formation — Pine Creek Gorge in Lycoming County, which is called Pennsylvania’s “Grand Canyon.”

The Bradford Woods Conservancy will host a virtual presentation about the region’s geological history at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The July 22 online event features Katie Tamulonis, an assistant professor of geology at Allegheny College in Meadville, who will present “Geology of Western Pennsylvania Through Time.”

Tamulonis is a graduate of Dickinson College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in geology. She earned her doctorate in earth and atmospheric sciences from Cornell University.

Before joining Allegheny College, Tamulonis worked as a geologist in the private sector. Her research interests include studying sediments and sedimentary rocks.

The program will be held on the Zoom meeting app. To participate, use the meeting ID 854 3294 5945.
