Ross and West View named Banner Communities
Ross and West View are among the 80 communities being celebrated as 2022 Banner Communities.
County executive Rich Fitzgerald and the Allegheny League of Municipalities made the announcement at the end of February.
Being chosen as part of this yearly list means that the municipalities are being recognized for their “commitment to professional development, prudent fiscal management, transparency, accountability and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders,” according to an Allegheny County news release.
Ross has been included on the list since its inception.
“We are extremely proud and honored to be named a Banner Community for the 10th consecutive year,” said Ross board president Dan DeMarco. “Our employees and management team provide the best local municipality government service in the region.”
West View Mayor John Henry could not be reached for comment.
Certain criteria must be met before a community can be considered for the yearly ranking, including being active members of ALOM, conducting an effective Citizen Communication Program and promoting and implementing long-term, sustainable government practices.
The full list of the 80 communities and authorities chosen can be found on the Allegheny County website.
A luncheon to recognize the municipalities will be held during the Allegheny League of Municipalities’ Spring Education conference in April.
