Cassandra Hecker, human resources director for ManorCare Health Service, provides a take-out breakfast for a Ross Township police officer who stopped by for the facility’s first Breakfast-on-the-Go! event on Sept. 11, 2019 to meet and thank “the brave individuals in our community who deserve to be recognized.”

Employees and patients at ManorCare Health Services in Ross Township honored emergency responders on Sept. 11 with an event called “Breakfast-on-the-Go!” featuring free take-out meals for busy police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel.

“This was our first event of this kind and we decided it will be an ongoing annual event at ManorCare North Hills,” said Jennifer Scarfone, the facility’s business development specialist.

Breakfast bags also were assembled and delivered to local police, fire and EMS stations for first responders who couldn’t make it to the facility.

Scarfone said the event was not only a way to honor and remember the first responders who died during the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attack, but to meet and shake hands with local emergency responders who “bravely serve our community day in and day out.”
