Threadbare Cider & Mead is expanding with a tasting room next to Wigle Whiskey inside Ross Park Mall on Friday.
Threadbare produces alcoholic ciders and mead from regional apples, pears, berries and honey.
Wigle Whiskey opened a tasting room and bottle shop at the mall last November. Wigle, based in the Strip District, is a community distillery that makes spirits from grain to bottle, using local, certified organic ingredients.
The new Threadbare tasting room and bottle shop will offer flights of ciders and meads as well as bottles. Guests may also order full glasses of Threadbare Cider at the Wigle bar.

“We are thrilled to provide cider and mead lovers another way to get a hold of our local products and just in the nick of time for holiday shopping season,” Meredith Meyer Grelli, co-owner of Threadbare Cider & Mead, said in a statement.
During opening weekend, Threadbare will offer complimentary pours of cider and $2 off bottles of cider at the mall and its North Side cider house.
The cider tasting room adds to the mall’s merchandise mix of options and expands the relationship with the operators of Wigle Whiskey, said Lisa Earl, Ross Park Mall manager, in a statement.
“This partnership has led to many new opportunities for the center and has generated tremendous levels of interest and enthusiasm from both our local and regional customers,” Earl said.
Threadbare Cider won Best in Class for its Rosé Cider this year at the Great Lakes International Cider & Perry Competition.
