A North Huntingdon martial artist instructor has been nominated for special martial arts award as one of the World’s Greatest Martial Artists G.O.A.T. — the greatest of all time.

John Morgart Jr., a 31-year-old sensi who started in martial arts in 2004, shares the recognition with martial arts icons such as Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris and famed boxer Sugar Ray Robinson, as well as actors Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Steven Seagal, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes.

“To stand alongside martial artists I’ve admired all my life is an incredibly humbling honor. It motivates me to continue advancing as a martial artist and encourages my students to realize their highest potential,” Morgart said.

Morgart, who has earned a 5th-degree black belt in Tang Soo Dois, is the founder and head instructor of Wei Son Do Martial Arts in North Huntingdon. His style and teaching methods have garnered national and international attention.

Morgart was nominated by two grandmasters who recognized Morgart’s and significant contributions to martial arts. The G.O.A.T. Awards are considered the ultimate celebration of martial arts excellence. Martial artists from around the world are expected at the ceremonies planned for Aug. 14 to 16 in Pottsboro, Texas.
