Norwin area: Blessing of bikes and car cruise, Lego building and movie and more

Church to bless bikes, hold car cruise

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish at 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon, will hold its annual Blessing of the Bikes and Car Cruise on June 25.

Food trucks, raffles, prizes and a Best of Show award will be part of the car cruise that will be held from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the church’s lower parking lot.

Registration fee is $10. The first 50 registrants will get a dash plaque and a tee-shirt. The free bike blessing will be given in the upper parking at 2:30 pm.

Church plans Lego event, to show movie

A free family fun night of building with Legos, games, food and a showing of “The Lego Movie,” is planned by St. Agnes Church, 1140 St. Agnes Lane, North Huntingdon, at 7:30 p.m. May 19.

The movie will be shown at dark.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket.

In case of rain, the event will be held at the same time on May 20.

Irwin OKs agreement for Lamp Theatre security

Irwin Borough’s police officers will be paid $55 an hour for providing off-duty security services for events at The Lamp Theatre this year.

Borough council recently approved the agreement with the non-profit The Lamp Theatre Corp. board.

The wage rate was based on a sliding scale for the overtime rates for all of the officers, said Shari Martino, borough manager.

Pirohi sale at St. Stephen’s

St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Church, 90 Bethel Road, North Huntingdon, will sell pirohi starting at 10 a.m. on May 3 and 5. Flavors include potato and cheese, lekvar and sweet cabbage. The cost in $12 per dozen.
