Library to hold summer reading program

The summer reading program at the Norwin Public Library at Caruthers Lane in Irwin will open on June 10 with an art demonstration by local artist Bob Weaver and an opportunity for children to show their creativity with creating sidewalk art.

The program will feature museum artifacts from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, playing video games, tasting candy from around the world, reading to a therapy dog, a nature hike, dancing lessons, a demonstration of scuba diving gear, an afternoon of camping at the library and other activities. The programs for children and teens continue through Aug. 14.

To register a child for the summer reading program, go online to the Norwin Public Library website at norwinpubliclibrary.net.

Once a child is registered, parents must go to the library to pick up a summer reading tracker — a booklet that has details of what a child is to do each week of summer reading.

For more information, contact Karly Kunkle, children’s librarian, at kkunkle@norwinpubliclibrary.net or call 724-863-4700, ext. 6
