A woman hit by a Port Authority bus on Tuesday died from her injuries, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The victim was identified as Dal Rai, 64, of Whitehall.

Rai was struck just after 6:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh.

She was taken to UPMC Mercy hospital and died two days later.

A spokesperson for Port Authority said the transportation agency was saddened to hear of Rai’s death.

“We at Port Authority are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the pedestrian involved in the crash in downtown Pittsburgh on Tuesday morning,” said Adam Brandolph. “Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and friends.”

Brandolph said previously the bus driver, who has worked for the Port Authority for 23 years, will be tested for drugs and alcohol, according to company policy.
