Calabrese reelected as Penn Hills mayor
Democrat incumbent Pauline Calabrese will serve another four years as mayor of Penn Hills after a landslide victory in the Nov. 7 general election against Republican candidate and deputy mayor Frank Pecora.
According to unofficial vote tallies, Calabrese received 73% of the vote, or 7,836 votes, compared to 27%, or 2,909 votes, for Pecora — a margin of 4,927 votes. The results represent an improvement for Calabrese over 2019, when she garnered 67% of the vote against then-Mayor John Petrucci.
“Penn Hills has spoken,” Calabrese said. “There is still a lot to do — now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get back to work.”
In her second term, Calabrese said she’ll prioritize balancing the budget, public safety, beautification, increasing homeownership and attracting businesses.
Pecora won his council seat in 2019 as a Democrat and ran in the party’s mayoral primary this May. While he placed third in the Democratic contest, he received the Republican nomination as a write-in.
