Dads and male role models are invited to share a donut with students at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship this week.
The school will host the annual Donuts with Dads event at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday at the school, 2501 Main Street in Penn Hills.
The school’s annual event aims to “get male role models … involved with the school and focusing on the importance of fatherly relationships,” according to a school news release.
The school has invited state Rep. Ed Gainey, D-Lincoln-Lemington, and state Rep. Tony DeLuca, D-Penn Hills as guest speakers for the event.
Penn Hills Charter School focuses on business education for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
The school incorporates the MicroSociety educational program — one that was developed in the 1990s by a Brooklyn teacher who wanted to include real-life learning, according to the Microsociety.org website.
The charter school has 422 students enrolled from six districts in Allegheny County, including Penn Hills, Pittsburgh, Gateway, New Kensington, Plum and Woodland Hills.
