The Penn Hills Service Association is reminding people its food pantry is still operational.
Kathy Lynch, the PHSA’s food pantry coordinator, said Thursday the pantry has fewer people signing up to receive food.
“Maybe it’s the stimulus checks or unemployment checks,” Lynch said. “Maybe some of our clients just aren’t coming anymore. Or maybe they just don’t understand we’re still open. But we have plenty of food, and I certainly don’t want anybody going hungry.”
To qualify for free food from the PHSA food pantry, people must live in Penn Hills and meet income requirements. For more information, prospective clients are encouraged to call the service association’s hotline at 412-798-2711.
Lynch said someone will schedule an appointment for the client to come to the site at 2519 Universal Road to pick up the food. Appointments are only made on a monthly basis. The service association does not have public hours of operation.
