Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church to host farmers market
A church along Frankstown Road will host its sixth-annual farmer’s market starting June 11.
Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church at 12106 Frankstown Road will welcome visitors on its lawn every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. through September. Available for purchase will be fresh produce from two local farmers and other items from crafters and various vendors.
Food trucks will also make some appearances on special dates, a new addition to the weekly market:
• June 18: Dad’s Pub and Grub
• June 25: PGH Crepes
• July 9: Pittsburgh Smokehouse
• July 23: The Coop Chicken and Waffles
• Aug. 6, 27: Pittsburgh Smokehouse
• Sept. 10, 28: Pittsburgh Smokehouse
Farmers from Plum and Penn Hills will set up stands throughout the summer, making available fresh fruits and vegetables, said Jan Yobp, a market organizer and Mt. Hope congregant.
A local musician will also make an appearance every week to play guitar and a nonprofit organization that reaches children with dolls at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
“It’s a small, community farmer’s market,” Yobp said, adding that there will be vendors selling jams and jellies, essential oils, flavored cooking oils, Asian food, jewelry, coffee and children’s books.
