A section of Saltsburg Road in Plum will be restricted to one lane of traffic starting April 1 and lasting until possibly April 8, a Turnpike Commission spokeswoman said.

The lane restriction will be implemented from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the I-76 bridge on Saltsburg Road near Fazi Firearms, a gun shop.

The project, being done by Robinson-based Erdman Anthony & Associates, will prepare the road for a bridge replacement to take place in late spring of 2020, said Renee Colborn, a turnpike spokeswoman.

Colborn said a 3.5-mile section of the turnpike in that area will be widened when the bridge is replaced by the end of 2020, Colborn said. That total project cost, including the bridge replacement and highway widening, is $7.2 million.

Colborn said a date has not been set for the start of the widening project.
