Dozens of families from multiple communities flocked to Verona for its third annual Trunk-or-Treat event.

The Halloween-themed activity was part of the Verona Farmers Market at Railroad Park Oct. 26.

Borough police and fire departments, along with local organizations such as the Lower Valley Athletic Foundation participated. There were multiple vehicles with trunks full of candy.

Children came dressed as various Disney princesses and Marvel characters including Sleeping Beauty, Spider-Man and Wolverine.

Others looked like Indiana Jones, Mario and Yoshi, police officers, a bumble bee and a giant mushroom.

Organizers had a 50/50 raffle to help victims of a fire at the Masonic Building along Center Avenue in Verona.

“Everybody’s having a good time it looks like,” market coordinator Stefani Garibay said. “People are out to get some candy. People are getting some produce and walking around. It’s good.”

Enchanted Experiences, a Pittsburgh entertainment company, provided a performer dressed as Princess Merida from Disney’s “Brave.”

The event was an early start for candy collection by the costumed cravers. Verona’s trick-or-treat is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

The market is open along East Railroad Avenue next to the borough building from 2-7 p.m. Thursdays through Nov. 16.

Vendors may change each week. More information and photos from the market are available at facebook.com/veronafarmers.
