Pine officials are recognizing the contributions of its public works professionals during National Public Works Week, which runs May 18-24.

National Public Works Week is sponsored by the American Public Works Association and has been celebrated across North America since 1960.

This year’s theme is “People, Purpose, Presence.” It highlights the heart of public works: the dedicated individuals who serve with a clear mission and a constant presence in the daily lives of township residents.

Whether it’s maintaining roads, managing stormwater systems or supporting seasonal operations, their work is foundational to the quality of life residents enjoy in Pine.

“Our public works team is made up of everyday heroes,” township Manager Jason Kratsas said. “They show up in all seasons, in all conditions, with one goal — serving the people of this community with pride and purpose.”

Throughout the week, the township is highlighting the hard work the public works team puts in year-round on its social media pages.

“Public Works Week is a great reminder of how important these services are — and how much we all benefit from the dedication and expertise of our public works professionals,” Kratsas said.
