Natureology: Dinosaurs
For more than 150 million years, giants roamed the earth in both warm and cold climates, leaving their bones, footprints, and descendants. See some examples for yourself with Tony Palermo at Natureology on Dec. 12 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. This program is for children of all ages, and registration is required.
Bridget’s Book Club
For December’s meeting, should our Book Club watch a Christmas movie or have a Christmas book exchange? Why not both? Join us this month on Dec. 13 at 6:30 p.m. for a fun-filled Christmas party! We’ll get together for a viewing of “Crown for Christmas” (bring a tiara, if you have one!) and have our annual Gift of Reading book exchange. Every club member is asked to bring a recently enjoyed book — gift wrapped — for an exchange with other club members. It can be a checked-out library book that we’ll recheck out to the person who receives your gift, or a book that you own. We will also have snacks! Registration is requested.
Pop-up book sale
Books make great gifts and the library has something for everyone in your life. The Friends of the Library will host a Pop-Up Book Sale from Dec.13-23. The sale will occur during the library’s regular hours in the program room on the main level.
Holiday Boutique
Holiday Boutique is running through Dec. 16. A sample of this year’s offerings includes tickets to events at Pittsburgh Opera, Pittsburgh Botanic Gardens, Living Treasures Wild Animal Park, Keystone Safari and the Mattress Factory. Gift baskets include Book Lover Junk Journal, Lenox, Fitz & Floyd, and Mud Pie china, Bamboo Tea Box, autographed gift books, Christmas reading basket. Bids will be accepted until 5 p.m. Dec. 8 for decorated Christmas trees, and 5 p.m. Dec. 16 for other boutique raffle items. Winners will be notified by phone the following morning. All proceeds benefit the library.
Math for girls
Math for Girls is a free math competition for late elementary and middle school-aged girls to empower young women’s engagement in STEM. The competition will take place at 9:30 a.m. Dec. 16. Registration is required.
New Year’s Eve family dance party
