Pine-Richland School District has hired two new administrators: Alysha Kaparakos, who joined the district in July as a K-6 school psychologist, and Michael Rose, who will join Eden Hall Upper Elementary School this fall as assistant principal.

Kaparakos, who began her new role on July 1, has extensive experience working with individuals who have learning and behavioral needs. She has specialized training in autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities.

She has worked in various school and alternative settings helping individuals grow academically, socially, behaviorally and emotionally. Kaparakos is also experienced in supporting students with individual and group counseling services, and has consulted with faculty members and families to help students reach their full potential.

Kaparakos completed her school psychology practicum in 2017-2018 and internship in 2019-2020 with Pine-Richland and has since provided direct and consultative services to district students.

She earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from John Carroll University, where she was awarded the Arrupe Social Justice Scholarship for advocacy and leadership. She earned a master of education degree in child psychology and a doctorate in school psychology, both from Duquesne University.

Rose, approved by board Aug. 5, has served as a counselor at Pine-Richland Middle School since 2020. Throughout his tenure, he has been a member of various academic committees. He is an active member of the student assistance program team and has served as a club sponsor and coach.

“Mr. Rose will enhance our team with his district experience, dedicated work with our students and families, and counseling background, providing invaluable insights,” Colleen Berezo, Eden Hall principal, said. “His ability to foster strong relationships to ensure students are connected and excelling will greatly benefit our students at Eden Hall.”

Prior to coming to Pine-Richland, Rose worked as a school counselor for seven years with Cumberland Valley School District in Mechanicsburg. He earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, master of science in counseling education from Duquesne University and principal certification from Shippensburg University.

“I am thrilled to become a part of this vibrant community of learners, educators and parents,” Rose said. “Education has always been my passion, and I firmly believe in the power of learning to transform lives. I am dedicated to supporting our students in their academic journey, helping them develop the skills they need to succeed, and fostering a nurturing environment where they can thrive.”

He will continue in his role as middle school counselor while the district searches for his replacement.
