Police took a suspect into custody after multiple people were stabbed Monday night near a public housing complex in East Pittsburgh, officials said.

Medics took at least three people to the hospital in connection to the incident, an Allegheny County 911 shift commander said.

The extent of their injuries were unclear.

State police are investigating.

911 dispatchers received a report of “multiple stab wound victims” in the area of Allegheny County’s Prospect Terrace housing units at about 8:45 p.m., Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Melinda Bondarenka said in a release.

By 10:30 p.m., police had a suspect in custody who was “also being treated for injuries at a local hospital.”

“It is believed that there is no direct threat to the community,” Bondarenka said.

Officials did not identify the person in custody nor any of the victims.

Further details were not immediately available.
