Two people were injured in a head-on collision in Pittsburgh’s New Homestead neighborhood Sunday evening, according to the city’s Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened just before 8 p.m. near the corner of Mifflin Road at Lebanon Road.

The drives from each car, a man and a woman, were taken to Mercy Hospital.

The man was in serious but stable condition with a possible head injury, and the woman was in stable condition with shoulder pain, according to the department.

Both were conscious and talking.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.

Firefighters extinguished an engine fire in one of the vehicles.
