6 dogs rescued from burning Moon home

Six dogs were rescued from a burning house Monday in Moon, according to township police.
The fire at 503 Moon Clinton Road was reported around 1 p.m. Firefighters were at the scene until almost 4:30 p.m., police said.
Drivers were advised to avoid Moon Clinton Road between International Drive and Pear Orchard Road while firefighters were at the scene.
According to police, six dogs inside the house were rescued and unhurt. No people were reported injured.
The dogs’ owners were not there when the fire broke out, the Trib’s news partner, WPXI-TV, reported.
The house was badly damaged.
Moon fire Chief Jason Scott told WPXI that space heaters may have played a role but the cause remains under investigation.
Scott could not be reached for comment Monday night.
The Red Cross helped two adults with food, clothing and lodging, as well as help with their pets.
Red Cross volunteers assisted 2 adults after a fire at their home in the 500 block of Moon Clinton Road, Coraopolis, Allegheny County this afternoon. Immediate assistance for food, clothing and lodging was provided as well as help with their pets.

No information was immediately available from the Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s office.
