Allegheny County officials reported nine additional covid-19 cases and one new death Tuesday.
That leaves the total number of deaths countywide at 152, while the total number of confirmed and probable cases rose to 1,928.
The reported death count is still lagging behind state data, which has recorded 165 deaths in the county. County officials have said that the reason for the different death count is the state’s reporting databases. The county has access to only one of the two systems from which the state collects its covid-19 data.
The county on Monday reported one new deaths and eight additional covid-19 cases.
Four more patients were hospitalized since Monday, bringing the total hospitalizations to 344. Of those hospitalizations, 68 patients have needed ventilation, according to the data. Nearly 70% of those hospitalized were aged 60 or older.
The first case was reported in Allegheny County on March 14. Since then, more than 36,700 tests have been administered in Allegheny County, which is slated to move into Gov. Tom Wolf’s green phase of reopening Friday.
