A section of a road in Monroeville will close for about a week starting Dec. 3, Allegheny County Public Works announced Monday.

Wilmerding-Monroeville Road, also known as Patton Street, will close between Monroeville Boulevard and the Tri-Boro Expressway starting at 7 a.m. Dec. 3.

Public works will work on emergency repair to a portion of the road that is sinking.

The road will remain open to residential traffic, public works said.

“Thru traffic will not be able to cross the area between Monroeville Boulevard and Mt. Pleasant Drive. Residents living on Wilmerding-Monroeville Road (Patton Street) or any of its side streets will have access to their homes throughout the closure,” said Stephen Shanley, public works director with Allegheny County.

Traffic traveling south will be detoured by using Monroeville Boulevard, Monroeville Avenue, Lynn Avenue and Route 130. Northbound traffic will be detoured on the same streets in the opposite direction.
