A Detroit jury Monday found Khari Mosley, the husband of Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner, not guilty of misdemeanor charges in connection with a reported March fracas at a hotel there.

Mosley, 53, of Pittsburgh’s Point Breeze neighborhood, was found not guilty of charges of disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

His trial started Thursday and wrapped up Monday.

A post Monday afternoon to Mosley’s Facebook account showed a photograph of him and Wagner smiling in front of 36th District Court in Detroit. The caption read: “Not Guilty on All Counts!”

“It’s why we felt it was absolutely imperative to pursue this,” Wagner, told the Tribune-Review. “The jury saw it for what it was. The depths of the lies were revealed.”

It’s a shame that it took a three-day trial for Mosley to be vindicated, Wagner said.

The charges stemmed from a March 6 confrontation with police at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel.

Mosley and Wagner had booked a getaway to attend a concert in Detroit. After the show, Mosley was locked out of his room and said hotel staff refused to let him up to the room, where Wagner said she was sleeping.

Police have maintained that Mosley was belligerent and that Wagner pushed an police officer when they ultimately went to the room that night.

The couple contends there has been a “coordinated effort” by police and hotel officials to smear their reputations and assassinate their characters, Mosley previously told the Trib. He called it a “clear case of incompetent misconduct.”

Wagner is facing a felony charge of resisting and obstructing the police and a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct after the fracas.

Her trial is set to start Nov. 12, a week after Election Day.

“These are charges that never should have been brought,” Wagner said.
