Allegheny County residents now have until the end of Monday to pay their property taxes at a 2 percent discount.

County Treasurer John Weinstein said Saturday he was extending the discount window by an extra day because the original deadline, March 31, fell on a Sunday.

Real estate taxes are due by April 30.

Payments are accepted online through the county’s real estate tax payment platform.

Residents who prefer to pay in person can do so until 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Allegheny County Courthouse in Pittsburgh.

Late penalties will apply starting May 1. The penalty begins at 5 percent of the gross amount due, plus 1 percent interest for each month taxes are late.

In July, the Treasurer’s Office will mail delinquent notices for all unpaid taxes.

Senior discount deadline: June 30

Homeowners ages 60 and older have until June 30 to apply for the 2019 Senior Citizen Tax Relief program.

The program offers a 30 percent discount on county real estate taxes owed by seniors who have lived in and owned their homes for at least 10 years and do not make more than $30,000 annually in gross household income.
