Allegheny County records 38 new coronavirus cases, no new deaths
Allegheny County on Monday reported no new covid-19 deaths and 38 new cases.
The latest figures bring the total number of covid-19 cases in the county to 1,641 since the first case was reported here March 14. Total deaths remained at 143, and total hospitalizations rose by two from Sunday’s report to 294.
Of the newly reported cases, 14 are associated with nursing homes and other long-term care facilities and based on tests collected between last Tuesday and last Friday.
Of the county’s 1,641 cases, 235, or 14%, involve health care workers, according to the health department.
All deaths are of individuals ranging in age from 42 to 103, with 84 being the median age of those who have died. About 95 percent of deaths have occurred in individuals 60 and older.
Of those who required hospitalization, 120 were admitted to intensive care units, and 67 required the use of a ventilator.
More than 23,000 tests have been administered for which the Allegheny County Health Department has received results.
About 54% of covid-19 cases in the county have occurred in women, according to county data.
Allegheny County on Friday was among the counties that moved to the yellow phase of Gov. Tom Wolf’s reopening plan.
