Allegheny County health officials reported 230 new covid-19 cases, two additional deaths and eight more hospitalizations on Wednesday.

This brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Allegheny County to 4,209. Of those, 4,028 are confirmed and 181 are probable.

Wednesday’s numbers are the product of 1,997 test results, health officials said. The positive results come from tests that span June 23 through July 5. In the newest cases, ages range from 7-months-old to 96-years-old with the median age being 29.

There have been 196 deaths since the virus was first reported in the county on March 14. Hospitalizations rose by eight to 431, health officials reported.

Of the reported deaths, 184 are confirmed to be linked to the coronavirus and 12 are probable. Those who died are between the ages of 23 and 103, with 84 being the median age. The death dates for the two people who most recently died were June 26 and July 5.

Health officials reminded residents that “Wearing masks, washing your hands and maintaining physical distance from others is absolutely essential to keep our community safe – now more than ever.”

“Please limit travel and errands to only those that are necessary and take the appropriate steps to protect those around you,” health officials continued. “Your vigilance can allow us to keep our businesses open and continue to support the economy.”
