The Allegheny County Health Department reported 97 new coronavirus cases Friday, bringing the seven-day average for new cases below 100.
Six new covid-19 deaths and eight new hospitalizations were also announced.
New coronavirus patients range in age from 1 to 86, with a median age of 33. Positive tests ranged from July 14-Aug. 6 and come from 1,897 test results, which show a positivity rate of 5.11%.
The seven-day average of new cases reported (Aug. 1-7) is 88, marking the first time the average has fallen below 100 since July 1. In the past seven days, the highest number of cases reported, 132, came Aug. 4, while the lowest number, 66, was announced Aug. 1. The count’s covid-19 case total is now at 8,709.
Past and present hospitalizations in Allegheny County total 721. Currently, there are 150 patients hospitalized and 32 of those are on ventilators, according to state Department of Health data.
According to Allegheny County’s covid-19 dashboard, 5,643 cases have recovered.
The new covid-19 deaths reported Friday are the daily high for August, so far, and bring the county death total to 257. Of the new deaths, five people were in their 80s and one was in their 90s, with dates of death from Aug. 1-5. Four of those deaths are associated with long-term care facilities. In the last month, the most reported deaths, eight, came on July 22.
When looking at the last 14 days, the first seven days and past seven have varied for new case counts. The seven-day average for July 25-31 was 154 cases, with the highest number of new cases reported, 244, coming July 31.
