A driver was fleeing from police when he crashed into an SUV on Duquesne Boulevard on Friday night, according to Allegheny County police.

Daniel Disiero, 39, and an unidentified 45-year-old victim were taken to the hospital after the crash.

Disiero is a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, wanted in Thomaston, Conn. for gun charges, evading police and numerous traffic related crimes, according to Thomaston police.

Duquesne police attempted to stop Disiero’s Nissan Altima at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Duquesne Boulevard for a vehicle code violation, police said.

Disiero pulled a sudden U-turn, driving over the median and speeding down Duquesne Boulevard to evade the officer, police said.

The officer followed Disiero for about a quarter of a mile before calling off the chase.

The officer continued driving up Duquesne Boulevard and soon arrived at the crash.

Disiero lost control, striking a Chevy Equinox that was travelling in the opposite direction near the intersection of Duquesne Boulevard and Commonwealth Avenue just after 11 p.m., police said.

Allegheny County police will charge him with fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, driving under a suspended license, aggravated assault by vehicle, aggravated assault and traffic violations.

Disiero’s condition, and the condition of the 45-year-old victim, have not been disclosed.

Duquesne Boulevard was closed overnight, reopening just before 5 a.m. according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.
