Big Lots program to help Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania
The discount retailer Big Lots will kick off a campaign to benefit Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania on Friday at its store in Ross Township.
The donation program is being launched to mark the chain’s unveiling of a new store layout and design for its 17 Western Pennsylvania locations, which are all participating in the charitable partnership with Junior Achievement, a nonprofit that provides student programs promoting work-force readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
Big Lots will donate $5 to the organization each time a loyalty member redeems a reward between Friday and Sept. 7 at any of its local stores.
The event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. and will include a local “celebrity shopper,” representatives from Junior Achievement and local officials.
The first 50 people who attend Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony or shop at the store on July 27 will receive a treat bag. The Ross store is located at 4717 McKnight Road.
The retailer, which is based in Columbus, Ohio, has redesigned its stores to place furniture, seasonal, home goods and foods in a more prominent position. The retailer said its redesigned stores are less cluttered and the restrooms have been remodeled.
There are 1,400 Big Lots stores in 47 states.
