Sun bathers and swimmers enjoy opening day at the Boyce Park wave pool in Plum in 2014.

The Boyce Park Wave Pool is set to reopen to the public starting Monday after receiving emergency repairs for a week.

The Allegheny County Facilities Management and Parks Department closed the wave pool last Tuesday when they discovered the pool was losing water on May 31 due to a malfunctioning valve.

The pool was closed to let crews replace the pool’s six valves, which are designed to maintain pressure between water in the pool and water in the ground. Excessive rainfall is believed to have caused the valves to malfunction.

The county owns and operates two other wave pools in Settlers Cabin Park and South Park. North Park also has a swimming pool.

Pools are open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. through Sept. 2, depending on weather conditions.
