Plans to restart direct flights from Pittsburgh International Airport to London via British Airways have been put on hold, according to an airport spokesperson.

The British airline had initially been set to resume flights last week. Bob Kerlik, spokesman for the Allegheny County Airport Authority, said the covid-19 pandemic has forced a delay upon those plans.

Flights are now set to resume Oct. 2, he said.

“Airlines and airports are faced with travel restrictions globally and we appreciate that airlines, specifically carriers flying internationally, will likely continue to adjust dates due to evolving government travel restrictions,” Kerlik said in a statement.

A representative from British Airways could not immediately be reached for comment.
