A worker saws through a section of new 20-inch water line that will be used to repair a main that burst along Butler Street in Lawrenceville on Tuesday, May 14, 2019. Residents and businesses were without water for several days and the road was closed while repairs were being made.

A section of Butler Street in Lawrenceville will be closed until Saturday while crews can repave areas impacted by a water main break.

Work to fix the 20-inch main between 39th and 42nd streets began shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, and water was shut off to homes and businesses along several surrounding streets.

Service was restored early Thursday morning but had to be shut off again at 11 p.m. along 42nd Street between Foster and Butler streets to complete the repairs.

The water was turned back on early Friday morning.

The break disrupted a number of businesses along the busy East End corridor.
