A car went over a hillside Friday night near Gate 2 of Kennywood Park and the driver was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.

It happened at about 10 p.m., when Duquesne police said the driver, described as an elderly man, appears to have put the car into drive instead of reverse.

The car went about 100 feet down a steep hill in a lot near Gate 2 of the West Mifflin amusement park, at Hoffman Boulevard and Route 837.

Authorities used a series of ropes to help rescue the man, Duquesne police said in a Facebook post.

Duquesne and West Mifflin police, fire and paramedics responded to the incident.
