A 19-year-old East Liberty man pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy charges for his part in a 2016 drug deal gone bad that resulted in the killing of a 17-year-old Homewood girl, the Allegheny County District Attorney’s office said Thursday.

Steven Cansler pleaded guilty in exchange for prosecutors withdrawing more serious charges, including homicide, according to the office.

Cansler was sentenced Thursday by Judge Edward J. Borkowski to 15 to 30 years in prison.

Another man, Douglas Lockett Jr., was convicted last year of second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy in Daija McCall’s death and is serving a life sentence.

McCall was killed Sept. 17, 2016, as she was attempting to sell a half kilogram of cocaine. The deal was set up by the buyers, which included Cansler, Lockett and a third suspect who hasn’t been identified, to rob her.
