A woman in her 80s suffered a minor arm injury after losing control of her car, which then went down a hillside, Shaler police Chief Sean Frank said.
The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Seavey Road.
Frank said the woman, whose name he did not have, was backing out of her driveway when she said her foot got stuck and she could not stop. Her car went across the small township road, through a yard and down a hill between Seavey and Mt. Vernon Drive.

Frank said he did not know how far down the hill the car went. Crews used a rope system to rescue her.
The woman was alone in her car. Frank said he didn’t know if she had been wearing a seat belt.
Frank said Shaler Hampton EMS took the woman to UPMC St. Margaret for evaluation.
There was moderate to severe damage to the back end of the car, Frank said.
Firefighters from Shaler, Etna, Aspinwall and Millvale responded.
