Foghat, Guster, The Manhattan Transfer top Allegheny County summer concerts

Local mainstays including the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will be joined by nationally-known acts like Tonic, Guster and Foghat during the 2019 Summer Concert Series at two Allegheny County parks.
The lineups for the annual series were announced Thursday, and they include nearly 30 free performances.
The highlights of the series at Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater in Hampton include:
• July 7 – Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, playing favorites in honor of Independence Day.
• July 14 – Stephen Marley, Grammy-winning second son of the legendary Bob Marley.
• July 21 – Kurt Vile, an artist the New York Times dubbed “indie rock’s charming riddle,” whose song “Pretty Pimpin” rang up over 45 million Spotify streams.
• July 28 – Rose Royce, whose in blend of disco, funk and soul created the #1 hit “Car Wash.”
• Aug. 4 – Guster, who once played an impromptu concert behind a dumpster on Pittsburgh’s North Side.
• Aug. 11 – The B.B. King Blues Band, who team up with Michael Lee from “The Voice” to keep the musical legacy of B.B. King alive.
• Aug. 18 – Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre.
• Aug. 25 – The Manhattan Transfer, winners of 10 Grammy awards.
The highlights of the lineup at South Park Amphitheater include:
• July 6 – Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
• July 19 – John Paul White, four-time Grammy-winning artist and producer, formerly of The Civil Wars.
• July 26 – Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes, whose “Hearts of Stone” album was ranked among the top 100 of the 1970s and 1980s by Rolling Stone.
• Aug. 2 – Tonic, two-time Grammy nominees whose song “If You Could Only See” continues to get airplay.
• Aug. 9 – RaeLynn, rising country act and veteran of season two of “The Voice.”
• Aug. 16 – Foghat, multi-platinum-selling artists whose hits “Slow Ride,” “Fool for the City” and “I Just Want to Make Love to You” remain sclassic rock radio staples.
The series will also feature numerous local performers including Anger the Ant, Benji, Clinton Clegg, Melinda Colaizzi, Mars Jackson, Clara Kent, Elias Khouri, The Matt Barranti Band, Milly, Some Kind of Animal, Starship Mantis and Steeltown Horns.
The summer wraps up with the 20th annual Allegheny County Musical Festival. It will be held Sept. 1 and features Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root fame with Jim Donovan and the Sun King Warriors and Jenn Wertz.
