A former Wilkinsburg resident has been sentenced to seven years in federal prison for violating federal drug and gun laws.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pittsburgh, Jordan Thompson, 23, possessed fentanyl and heroin with intent to distribute. He also illegally possessed a Glock .40-caliber gun, after having multiple previous convictions.
Thompson had previously been convicted of receiving stolen property, carrying a gun without a license and possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver. It’s illegal for anyone who has been convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a year or more to possess a firearm.
After serving his prison sentence, Thompson must serve six years of supervised release.
The FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firarms and Explosives and the Monroeville Police Department conducted the investigation. The case was brought as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an effort of the U.S. Justice Department to reduce violent crime.
