Route 837 in West Mifflin was reopened late Friday night after PennDOT crews removed boulders and debris from the two-lane road along the Monongahela River, a West Mifflin fire department official said.
The landslide that blocked one lane of road from about 7:20 p.m. to about 9:25 p. m., said Charles Spangler, assistant chief of West Mifflin’s Duquesne Annex fire department. The slide occurred between the Boswell Crossing and the Dravosburg Bridge, Spangler said.
No one was injured in the landslide, Spangler said. One of the boulders that came down from the hillside was “about the size of a car,” he said.
Emergency responders were concerned about the possibility more boulders might slide down the hillside, Spangler said.
