Pittsburgh Westinghouse Academy was put on brief lockdown Tuesday after a student allegedly brought a loaded magazine clip to school in a backpack, a district spokeswoman said.

Spokeswoman Ebony Pugh said the clip was found when the student went through the metal detectors during morning arrival. The school was then placed on a modified lockdown so a K-9 could search the building.

Nothing additional was found and the lockdown has since been lifted, Pugh said.

“The student will face disciplinary action in line with the District’s Student Code of Conduct,” she said.

Pugh said parents were notified of the modified lockdown and reason for the lockdown through the district’s parent notification system.
