Man in critical condition from stabbing after medics find him in Swissvale
A man was in critical condition after medics rushed him to the hospital Thursday afternoon from a Swissvale neighborhood, police said.
Officials received a report of a man in need of help near the 7500 block of Ellesmere Street around 12:25 p.m., Allegheny County Police Inspector Andrew Schurman said.
Police and medics arrived to find a 27-year-old man who appeared to have been stabbed in the hip, Schurman said. The injured man had arrived in Swissvale by car prior to calling for assistance, the preliminary investigation indicates.
Medics took him to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in critical condition as of shortly before 4 p.m. He was not identified.
Police said they are not yet sure where the stabbing incident happened.
Officials said that it’s “likely the victim had been stabbed elsewhere, possibly another municipality,” Schurman said.
“The motive for this case is not exceptionally clear at this time and there is no suspect information to release,” Schurman said.
Officials asked anyone with information to call the county police tipline at 1-833-255-8477. Callers can remain anonymous. Police can also be reached via social media.
