A woman hit a man with her car after he assaulted her in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood early Friday morning, according to the city department of public safety.

The man and woman had been arguing inside a local business and moved outside onto West Liberty Avenue around 2 a.m., according to the department.

The man allegedly assaulted the woman, then walked away, police said.

The woman got into her car. The man came back, but the woman did not see him. She struck him as she started to drive away, the department said.

When first responders got there the man was conscious and talking. He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating. No charges have been filed.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified the neighborhood where this incident happened.
