A man was shot in the leg in Pittsburgh’s Beechview neighborhood following an altercation that involved several men early Sunday, police said.

Police received reports of shots fired near the 2500 block of West Liberty Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m., Public Safety spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.

Officers arrived to find shell casings in a parking lot, Cruz said.

“At the same time, a male victim walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the thigh,” Cruz said. “He told police he became involved in an argument with a group of other males and one of them shot him.”

The injured man was in stable condition, according to police.

Officials did not provide further details about the incident. They did not cite any possible suspects or charges.

Detectives from Pittsburgh’s group violence unit are investigating.
