Millvale police are searching for a man who they say beat his cousin within inches of his life during an afternoon fight on Aug. 1.
Julio Jenaro, a borough resident, is wanted on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and two counts of reckless endangerment after being accused of beating another man with an aluminum baseball bat.
“He was with his cousin at a house on Davis Street and got into some kind of altercation,” Chief Tim Komoroski said. “He cold-cocked him in the face, and the cousin was laying on the ground, saying he didn’t want to fight.”
Jenaro is accused of grabbing a wooden chair and striking the victim in the head. The incident happened around 3 p.m.
“The guy was laying on the floor begging for help,” Komoroski said. “Jenaro called the cousin a little (expletive), told him he was fine and then struck him in the head several more times with a bat.”
The victim remains in critical condition in Allegheny General Hospital.
Jenaro fled the house and the victim was able to crawl to the street. A neighbor found him unconscious near Gerwig Street and called paramedics.
The victim suffered broken eye and temple bones, a broken wrist and internal bleeding, Komoroski said.
“I’ve seen a lot of things, and when you’re bleeding clear liquid from the ears, you’re not too far from seeing the Lord,” Komoroski said.
Jenaro has lived in the borough more than 10 years, Komoroski said, and has had several run-ins with borough police. Past charges have included incidents of assault, drugs, vehicle code violations and domestic violence.
“This isn’t unknown for him, but he really took it far this time,” Komoroski said.
If anyone sees Jenaro, they are urged not to approach him. Instead, call 911 or Millvale police at 412-821-3410.
