A Monroeville nursing home has reported 47 cases of covid-19 to state health officials, after reporting none a week ago.
Long-term care facility data from the state’s Department of Health shows that Monroeville Rehabilitation & Wellness Center reported zero cases of covid-19. In numbers updated on Tuesday, the center reported 47 cases and seven deaths.
Nursing homes are required to report daily covid-19 case counts to the state.
Administrators for the center could not be immediately reached for comment, but management did provide a statement to Trib news partner WPXI through its public relations firm.
“There are currently 16 residents at the facility and 6 staff members home with a covid-19 diagnosis,” the statement reads. “Fortunately, there has not been a new diagnosis of covid-19 in more than a week. The facility now counts 20 residents as ‘resolved,’ and 13 members of the staff have returned to work after medical clearance.
“While we are continuing to take every precaution and report our data to the appropriate governmental parties, we remain cautiously optimistic that we have turned a corner.”
