No one was injured Sunday night when an unoccupied Jeep rolled into a Moon Township home, hit a gas line and burst into flames, according to Moon Township police.
Members of the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company responded at about 10:30 p.m. to the 200 block of Scottsdale Drive where they found a vehicle crashed into the side of a house. Both were on fire.
A woman told police that she lost control while trying to get into the vehicle and it slipped out of gear and drifted from her driveway into the nearby home.
“In the process, the vehicle struck the home’s natural gas meter, igniting the vehicle and spreading quickly to the house,” according to a statement by Moon police.
No one was inside the home, where the fire charred the aluminum siding and caused windows to break.
Other departments that assisted at the scene include Crescent, Coraopolis, Imperial, Groveton, North Fayette and Sewickley.
