The 18-year-old North Side man accused of shooting two people July 4 after the holiday fireworks celebration in Downtown Pittsburgh waived his preliminary hearing Thursday.
Camerin Caldwell is accused of shooting an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old in Agnes R. Katz Plaza shortly after 11 p.m. that night in what Major Crimes Commander Victor Joseph characterized as a “ridiculous act of senseless violence.”
The 16-year-old suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and the 18-year-old man was shot six times in the body, police said.
Caldwell’s attorney, Angela Hayden, declined to comment after waiving the hearing. The case now will go to Allegheny County Court.
Caldwell is charged with two counts each of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment, along with a firearms violation.
